For our next member-exclusive workshop, the focus is fundraising.

Fundraising is a mission-critical responsibility, but it does not always come naturally to founders and board members. Grants and proposals are often the main source of funding for many NGOs and nonprofits, making them highly dependent on donors, more risk averse and less visionary, and often less able to focus efforts on community-level solutions that don’t necessarily provide instant or easily measurable results.

To address this issue, the Youssef Tabsh Foundation is leading an interactive capacity development workshop called “Fundraising Strategies” to help your organization diversify its funding sources and expand its opportunities to support those in need. Based in Beirut, the Youssef Tabsh Foundation is dedicated to helping build an Arab society that is more collaborative, socially just, and healthy.

Facilitated by the foundation’s president, Afif Tabsh, this training session on May 29, 2024 at 15:00 – 17:00 EEST / 08:00 – 10:00 EDT is designed to teach organizations to fish, rather than simply giving them a fish, to paraphrase the famous saying. During the two-hour workshop, participants will learn about nine different fundraising approaches, the pros and cons of each, their requirements, and when to best used them, all backed by real-life examples from NGOs around the Arab region.

MEET THE FACILITATOR

Afif Tabsh, President, Youssef Tabsh Foundation

As well as serving as President of the Youssef Tabsh Foundation, based in Beirut, Afif is the Founding Partner of RPS MENA, a social impact research, training, and consulting firm, and the Founding Partner of RainMakers, a business development firm for NGOs, INGOs, CSOs, and service providers serving the EMEA region. Since 2011, he has also been a Project and Risk Management and Business Analysis Instructor/Trainer at RPS MENA, the American University of Beirut’s Continuing Education Center (AUB CEC), and the PwC Academy, among others.

Previously, he was the Business Development and Projects Manager at AUB REP, the university’s consulting arm; he held a consulting managerial position at PwC in Saudi Arabia; and he was the Operations Manager at CMCS Lebanon, a project management consulting and training firm in Beirut.

Afif holds a Masters in HR Management, seven International Certifications, and has 15+ years of consulting, advising, training, and managerial experience in the corporate, academic, and nonprofit sectors, at organizations such as the Youth Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Beirut Hub, and the UNESCO Alumni Chapter. He is coauthor of the book The Financial Freedom Handbook: A Practical Guide for the MENA Region.
