Active Philanthropy and the Arab Foundations Forum have joined forces to help make sense of the relevance and impact of climate change in the Arab region and to determine the options that members of our network face when it comes to both mitigation and adaptation. Join a special cohort of Active Philanthropy’s online course, Climate + Philanthropy, for the unique opportunity to hear from over 20 climate and philanthropy practitioners who will share their knowledge and experience to help you get to a place of impact faster.
The eight-week course blends self-paced learning with live peer-exchange workshops. You will build a solid foundation of climate change basics and explore how to align your grant-making, operations, and investing with climate action. Along with the modules, participants of this cohort will also be provided with exclusive, additional background material such as reports, newsletter videos, podcasts, and more, with a particular focus on climate change and philanthropy in the Arab region. The addition of this valuable material was made possible by King Khalid Foundation.
Upon completion of the course, you will have developed an action plan outlining the next steps for your organization. Moreover, you will have built a supportive network of fellow philanthropy actors active in the Arab world to collaborate with. For more about the course structure and content (including the course prospectus, trailer video, and FAQs), please see the course page.
The time commitment for the eight-week course is roughly 1.5-3 hours per week, comprising self-paced online learning and five live interactive sessions on Zoom.
This cohort will run from June 5, 2023 until August 3, 2023. The five interactive sessions will take place on the following dates:
Interactive Session I – Thursday, June 8 at 14:00 CEST
Interactive Session II – Thursday, June 22 at 14:00 CEST
Interactive Session III – Wednesday, July 5 at 14:00 CEST (note the different weekday from the other sessions)
Interactive Session IV – Thursday, July 20 at 14:00 CEST
Interactive Session V – Thursday, August 3 at 14:00 CEST
AFF will follow up with course participants with the aim of facilitating an Arab climate action network for on-going peer exchange and to enable learning and actions to be shared more widely. This course is part of a series of events and panels we have planned leading up to the COP28 climate summit in November.
